On June 25-27, 2025, we welcomed more than 300 members to our new institutional home, Temple University, for the 31st International Conference of Europeanists.

As Eamonn Butler McIntosh wrote in his welcoming remarks: A huge thank you to everyone who made the journey to Philadelphia. We know it hasn’t been easy. From global politics and visa delays to rising costs, tight travel budgets, competing conferences, and even airspace closures, this year has thrown just about everything at us. We are grateful to those who joined us and helped make the conference a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all.
Despite the challenges of this year, we hosted a fantastic lineup of panels, roundtables, and workshops. Highlights included:
JCMS Keynote: Mark Copelovitch, “Europe Adrift: The Future of the EU, the Global Economy, and World Order in an Era of Great Power Uncertainty.”
Late-breaking panel on the NATO Summit, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Roundtable sessions: “Teaching European Studies Today” and “Decolonizing European Studies.”

CES’s first Undergraduate Symposium!

Several research networks hosted graduate workshops and symposia for early-career scholars, including the Political Economy and Welfare Research Network Early Career Workshop.

Moderated discussion between EU Deputy Ambassador to the US, Ruth Bajada, and Professor Mark Pollack.
Film Screening of Il Moro and We Were Here with a discussion with the directors, Daphne Di Cinto and Fred Kuwornu.
And so much more!
We are grateful to everyone who participated, either in person or online. Your participation made this conference a success! We are also grateful to the conference program committee co-chairs, Mark Pollack, Maxine David, and Claske Vos.

Local Organizing Committee: Orfeo Fiortos (Chair), Eileen Ryan, Mitchell Orenstein, Osman Balkan, Daniel Kinderman, and Paige Pendarvis.
