The Council for European Studies’ (CES) First Article Prize Committee is pleased to announce Luca Provenzano (Wake Forest University) and Anne Ruderman (London School of Economics) as the winners of the 2020 European Studies First Article Prize.
Provenzano was awarded the 2020 European Studies First Article Prize in the Humanities for his article “Beyond the Matraque: State Violence and Its Representation during the Parisian 1968 Events,” published in The Journal of Modern History, Volume 91, Issue 3, in 2019
Ruderman was awarded the 2020 European Studies First Article Prize in the Social Sciences for her article “Intra-European Trade in Atlantic Africa and the African Atlantic,” published in The William and Mary Quarterly Volume 77, Issue 2 in 2020
