University College Dublin
Due: 19 November 2025
RIGHTS-TO-UNITE conducts qualitative socio-legal research exploring the question whether perception and usage of EU-derived rights contributes to integration of societies in the EU and its neighbourhood. Joining this project in its third year requires the courage to engage with legal, sociological and political perspectives on European integration. We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified researcher with a strong profile in European Studies (sociology, legal studies, political science, industrial relations or another relevant field) – but whatever is your “home discipline”, you will need to be prepared to read and work with primary and secondary sources from the other disciplines as well. You should have experience in qualitative comparative research, such as focus groups and expert interviews, and a more than theoretical understanding of socio-legal comparison.
We offer: become part of an international team, collaborate with an advisory board with high-level academics from eight small European countries (Czechia, Georgia, Greece, Ireland, Northern Ireland, North Macedonia, Norway and Sweden), being based in Ireland’s most global university with ample opportunities to travel, opportunities to present at international conferences and co-author project outputs, to contribute to PhD supervision, and everything else which comes with being part of an European Research Council Advanced Grant project. Salary up to 46905 p.a. and all the advantages UCD has to offerTo apply before the deadline on 19 November 2025, find the post on the UCD HR web page (reference number 019073 ), or use this link.
