When: June 16, 2026 from 1:00-1:45pm
Where: UCD, O’Brien Centre
On Bloomsday, the most iconic day of literature in Ireland, a special event will take place in University College Dublin, as part of the International Conference of Europeanists. Prepare to be entertained, amused, enthralled and appalled (and perhaps all four at the same time!) as Professor Mark Lawler regales you with a riveting show of words, song and doggerel verse, as he takes you into the mischievous world of James Joyce.
Mark is Professor of Digital Health at Queen’s University Belfast, a world leader in cancer research and data science. But he has another string to his bow. Mark treads the boards in his own one man show on James Joyce. He has delivered his own unique take on Joyce in multiple appearances in Dublin (including in the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI)) and in Belfast (including in the Seamus Heaney Centre).
He has also performed his show in Amsterdam, Boston, Brussels, the West End in London, Paris and New York. This version in UCD, Joyce’s alma mater, will be an abridged version but is definitely not to be missed.
