European Studies Book Award: 2025 Cycle

We are pleased to announce the opening of the European Studies Book Award. Books in European Studies published between 2022 and May 31, 2025 are eligible for consideration for this next prize. 

A multi-disciplinary Book Award Committee appointed by CES will choose the winner. The winning author will receive $1,000 as well as a registration fee waiver for the International Conference of Europeanists. The winner will also be recognized in CES publications and on our website. 

Eligibility

For the 2025 European Studies Book Award competition, each nominated title must meet the following criteria:

  • Be written by the nominee in the field of European Studies
  • Be published between January 2022 and May 31, 2025. 
  • Be published in English. Translations will be accepted.
  • Not be a reprint or re-edition of a previously published book
  • The author must be a member of the Council for European Studies or hold a full-time appointment at an institution that is a member. 

Nominations may be submitted by the publisher, author, or a colleague, and must be accompanied by 7 copies of the book. One must be sent to each member of the jury and one copy to the CES. In lieu of physical book copies, we will accept PDF or e-copies of the book emailed to awards@ces-europe.org. To nominate a book, please fill out this google form by August 31, 2025. 

We will send mailing instructions to nominators after confirming eligibility of the nominated book.
