Registration is now open for the 2025 Conference in Philadelphia: “Legacies and Ruptures: Making Sense of Europe.” Early bird registration rates will be available until April 22nd.
The Council for European Studies is a membership based association at Temple University that connects scholars, universities, and organizations in European Studies across the Atlantic and beyond. CES hosts an annual conference, the International Conference of Europeanists, plans events and networking opportunities, and offers grants and awards to support innovative research in the field of European Studies. We offer both individual and institutional memberships that provide access to CES awards, publications, and programs.
CES membership fees directly support our grants, awards, and programs.

Book Series: Understanding Europe
Understanding Europe Book Series with Agenda Publishing
In support of its mission to produce, support, and recognize outstanding, multi-disciplinary research on Europe through a wide range of programs and initiatives, CES has launched a new book series that will publish scholarly research on all aspects of European Studies. Under the editorial guidance of Professor Mark Vail, the series will mirror CES’ commitment to supporting research that plays a critical role in understanding contemporary Europe, its nation states, institutions, and societies.
