CES Digital Fellow

Ethan Pate is in his second year of an international master’s in security & intelligence, with a focus on countering violent extremism (CVE). He is a visiting Research Fellow at the Centre of Security and Peace Studies at Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia, where he researches the nexus of gender and radicalization. He is also a Research Assistant for Charles University Research Centre of Excellence Periculum, where he aids in research on UK and EU CVE policy, as well as research regarding historically marginalized groups and marginalization. Previously Ethan graduated from Carleton University’s Criminology and Criminal Justice Program with a concentration in sociology and a minor in psychology. During his undergraduate degree, he primarily studied criminal justice system reforms, law, and international peacebuilding and acted as a legal assistant to a criminal defence lawyer in Ottawa, Canada.
